Perreria heads New Look Boxing Association

The St. Lucia Amateur Boxing Association held its general meeting at the Palm Haven Hotel in Rodney Bay Gros Islet on Saturday 23rd February 2008 at which a new executive was duly elected to run the affairs of the association for 2008-2010.
Peter Dalson, former secretary of the St. Lucia Domino association, was elected as the new secretary replacing Theresa Poleon who was returned as 3rd Vice-President, with the sole responsibility for the development of female boxing on the island. Other names to the new look executive are former Cricket World Cup executive Renee De Myers who was elected as assistant Secretary/Treasurer, whilst, Berry Henry won the post of Organizing Secretary.

Out going President of the SLABA Joseph ‘Reds’ Perreria was returned as president with David “Shakes” Christopher of Black Heart Production as 1st Vice-President whilst George Alfred returned as 2nd Vice-President and Ian Herman kept his position as Treasurer for the next two years.
A total of five gyms were represented at Saturday’s meeting, Vigie, Marchand, Gros-Islet, Marigot and Choiseul while the Vieux-Fort representative was invited to be an observer until their gym becomes a reality. Only representatives of the various gyms were allowed to vote as the former executive became null and void.
The President Joseph Reds Perreria’s and the Treasurer Ian Herman’s reports were duly presented to members, while the returning officer for the day’s proceedings was Jennifer Gaston – Orion President.
Meanwhile, St. Lucia’s lone representative to the Olympic qualifying event in Trinidad and Tobago scheduled for Monday 10th to Wednesday 19th March, 2008 continues to train daily under a program designed by the Cuban Coach Renaldo Taledo attached to the Department of Youth and Sport and assisted by SLABA National Coach Guy Lawrence.
