controversy over the construction of a building in the Piton
Management Area (PMA) and who gave the permission to build
continues unabated with the opposition Saint Lucia Labour
Party producing documented evidence absolving itself from
accusations that it gave the go ahead to build when it gave
an Alien Landholding Licence, 
Saint
Lucia to host Commonwealth Finance Ministers Meeting
Commonwealth
Finance Ministers will discuss the implications of rising
food and fuel prices on their economies at their Annual Meeting,
which this year will be held in Castries, Saint Lucia, from
October 6th – 8th, 2008. The Meeting will bring
together Ministers, senior finance officials and delegates
from the 53 member countries.

About
2:10am on Saturday the 23rd of August 2008, Dexter Maree,
age 25 of St. Louis Street, Anse La Raye was reported missing
by his father Martyr of Anse La Raye. Dexter Maree
was last seen on the Langoute Beach in Anse La Raye by his
brother Ted Maree, about 3:30pm on Friday the 22nd August
2008. His beach ball and some of his clothing were found at
the beach,
The
more things change
The
Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court’s website has been in
existence for over four years. On its front page
is a message from the recently appointed Chief Justice Hugh
Anthony Rawlins. At the time of posting the communiqué,
Justice Rawlins was acting in the capacity of Chief Justice.
The message is headlined: “ They must often
change, who would be constant in … wisdom.”

Library left to rot
A
couple of weeks ago a special sitting for the late Parry Husbands
QC was held at the Castries High Court. Mr Husbands
a former Attorney General was responsible for drafting a host
of laws that still exist today. During the many tributes from
members of the legal fraternity it became known that Mr Husbands
prided himself on his personal law library.
