Accident Along Calypso Road

An accident involving a motor truck claimed the life of a seventy-four year old man.
On Thursday 26th January 2012, a motor truck driven by Ernest St. Catherine of the Micoud community ran off Calypso Road, Ti-Rocher Micoud. The motor truck which capsized alongside the road at about 1:30 p.m. was reported to have carried about six people in its tray.
Amongst the passengers injured in the accident was seventy-four year old Alick Bernard of Micoud. Bernard, who was riding in the tray of the vehicle, acquired serious head injuries from the accident.
Bernard later succumbed to his wounds after being taken to the St. Jude’s Hospital. Five persons too were injured but mildly. They were treated and later discharged from St. Jude’s. The driver of the vehicle survived the accident.
Further explanation regarding the circumstances of the accident is being sought by the police.
