Stanley vs Frederick: Apology Demanded
M.G. George

Housing and Physical Development Minister Stanley Felix is demanding an apology from Richard Frederick and Radio 100FM over statements made by the former Housing Minister on his radio show last Friday.
Felix further demanded from both Frederick and Radio 100FM a full retraction of the statements made against him, which he described as false and malicious.
He added that should an apology and retraction not forthcoming he would go for the maximum award a court in this jurisdiction can afford him.
“I will not stand still until justice is served,” Felix said.
It was on January 27, 2012 that Frederick, on his radio talk show “Can I Help You” aired on Radio 100FM, made certain statements to the effect that the Stanley Felix said to be on the internet convicted of rape and imprisoned in the United States of America while he was attending college was, in his mind, Housing Minister Stanley Felix.
Frederick on his show stated that he searched the internet for about three hours and found several persons by the name of Stanly Felix.
“There were several Stanley Felix’s but when you put in the date of birth which is the 27th of May, 1963 one Stanley Felix came up, his addresses in New York, Flushing Meadows; Corona, New York; Fredonia, New York and relatives. Relatives: Beverley A. Henry, Mildred S. Felix, Julia M. Felix-mother and sister, Baptiste Felix – Marketplace his uncle, on an inmate list.
“In my view the question is not whether Mr. Felix went to prison, the question is why? My name is not on any inmate list. The relatives, the date of birth, 27th May, 1963 ….Mildred S. Felix, Julia M. Felix and Baptiste J. Felix it’s on the internet I did not put it there. I am saying this, and like I said, there is no question in my mind, the question is why,” Frederick said on his show.
Felix Tuesday held a press conference to give his take on the publication of the statements which was first posted on the internet by a Face Book user who goes by the name Mafo Montana and was further featured on the Face Book page of a UWP member.
According to the Minister, Frederick “made very serious, damaging and defamatory allegations against myself to the effect that I had been imprisoned in the United States while attending university”.

“Following on from the publication of these false statements, both my family and I have been subjected to numerous calls, text and emails from individuals from all over the world, all enquiring about the statement made by Richard Frederick, and aired over Radio 100 during his Friday morning talk show,” Felix said.
“The allegations made on these Face book pages and by Richard Frederick are totally and completely false. I have never been imprisoned in the United States or for that matter anywhere else in the world, nor have I ever been convicted of any criminal offence anywhere in the world,” Felix said.
He added that the statements made by Richard Frederick were completely false, malicious and rooted in deceit and political mischief designed to cause serious damage to his character, reputation and credibility.
“As such I have instructed my attorneys to institute proceedings against Richard Frederick and Radio 100FM immediately for the Tort of Defamation and I am considering also the offence of criminal libel,” Felix said.
The Minister added that Frederick and Radio 100FM are to issue an apology within 48 hours of receiving a letter from his attorneys demanding an apology and a full retraction of the false and malicious statements made against him.
The letter to Frederick and the radio station was delivered Tuesday, according to Felix however, the Minister could not explain why his mother’s name and other names of family members were listed as family members of the Stanley Felix that’s on the internet said to have been imprisoned for rape while attending the New York University.
“I cannot explain that ….they are persons I know but I cannot explain why their names appear there. The fact is I Stanley Felix has never, ever been arrested, charged, convicted nor imprisoned anywhere in the entire world,” Felix said.
“The fact is he (Frederick) made the allegations quite convincingly. He said that he had no doubt that I was in prison, the question is why? He now will be given the opportunity to prove to the world that I was in prison in the United States as he so alleges,” Felix said.
