About
8:15 p.m. on January 24th 2012 employees of
a local jewelry company were robbed along the
Trouya road whilst transporting items.
On Tuesday evening, a company vehicle chaperoned
by four employees was hijacked by armed, masked
men. The employees, who were in possession of
items amounting to about US $140,000, were accosted
by two vehicles whilst driving from a hotel.
The company vehicle was pinned by the two vehicles,
a white car to the front and a green vehicle
to the back. Reports suggest that four armed,
masked men disembarked the green vehicle and
moved over to the company vehicle.
Two of the four employees were assaulted in
the robbery. The employees were directed to
abandon the company vehicle, after which it
was boarded and commandeered by one of the four
bandits. The armed men drove off with all three
vehicles, and left the employees along the Trouya
road.
The following Wednesday the police discovered
the company vehicle abandoned at the Corinth
Estate. Investigations are still under way.
