VIVE LA WOZ 2K10!

A modest number of persons celebrated the La Rose festival last Monday, which took place this year in the village of Dennery. Inspite of the fact that the flower festival has been in existence for many years, not many persons remembered or even recognized that day. Groups from all over the island, though reduced from previous years, represented the communities of Grand Riviere, Mon Repos, Aux-lyon, Vieux-Fort, host village Dennery, Bellevue, Castries, Blanchard, Monchy, Choiseul and Laborie.
The festival began with a mass, followed by a march through the streets, led by the Kings and Queens, Princes and Princesses, doctors, nurses etc. Afficionados of the flower festivals, bemoaned the fact that participation seemed to beat an all-time low and resolved to take steps to ensure that the tradition does not continue to wane, so that next year, St Lucians will once more witness a blooming of the flowery event, whatever it takes.
