St. Lucian American Progressive League Makes Monetary Donation to St Jude Hospital Rebuilding Fund

The Government of Saint Lucia continues to receive overwhelming and widespread support for its campaign to rebuild the St. Jude Hospital, which was destroyed by fire on September 9th, 2009. The latest organization to express support to Government’s efforts is the St. Lucian American Progressive League an organization of fifty St. Lucians based in Brooklyn, New York.
On Monday, January 4th, 2010, the organization of US based Saint Lucians made a cheque donation of EC $24, 030.00 to the St. Jude Hospital Rebuilding Fund. The donation was made during ceremonies conducted at the George Odlum Stadium (temporary location of the St. Jude Hospital) and at the Prime Minister’s Lounge at the Office of the Prime Minister. The Cheque represented proceeds from the first ever fund-raising efforts undertaken by the organization, which was formed in October of 2009.

 
 

The membership of the St. Lucian American Progressive League currently comprises St. Lucians from the south-western and eastern districts from Soufriere to Dennery. The organization has as one of its main goals – assisting to enhance the social development of Saint Lucia and Saint Lucians. The President of the St. Lucian American Progressive League is Ms. Alexandria Actie. The Organisation’s Liaison Officer in St. Lucia is Mr. Simon Leon.
The Government of Saint Lucia encourages all Saint Lucians and Saint Lucian organizations both in Saint Lucia and in overseas territories to come forward and be counted in the campaign for reconstruction of our beloved St. Jude Hospital.
