Renewal of Outstanding Firearm Licenses, Police Issue Warning

The Police are appealing to persons who have not paid their outstanding firearm licenses, to proceed to the Criminal Record Office (C.R.O), located on the first floor of the Western Union Building, Upper Bridge Street, Castries, where the payments can be made. Persons, who fail to comply, will be subjected to the revocation of their firearm licenses.

Firearm Found during Police Patrol

On Tuesday the 16th of February, 2010, about 8:45am, a team of police officers who were on patrol at Morne Cesseaux, quarter of Anse-La-Raye, intercepted Shem Bellas, 23 years old of Morne Cesseaux, who was in possession of a .380 9mm firearm.
Bellas, who was shot during the process of his apprehension, is currently nursing an injury at the Victoria Hospital.
The officers also patrolled the Bois D’Orange area where they discovered two ski masks, a wig and two pairs of gloves at a nearby house.

 
 

Hampshire Police Band Visits St. Lucia

The Royal St.Lucia Police Band, continues to strengthen relations with its regional and international counterparts, and has this year, 2010, agreed to host the members of the Hampshire Police Band of the United Kingdom.
The sixty-member contingent, arrived in St.Lucia on Tuesday the16th of February, 2010 and during their stay on the island, the members will participate in a number of activities designed to engage the band’s immense resources and skills, beneficial to the members of the Royal St.Lucia Police Band and upcoming musicians on the island. These activities include the repairing of instruments, instrument playing master classes, conducting, school concerts and a drum major class. The visit coincides with the independence celebrations and the group will be a fixture on the 2010 independence calendar of events.
Details of the various scheduled events are listed below:
• Tuesday 16th February, 2010 - Arrival of the Hampshire Police Band @ 2:15pm
• Wednesday 17th February, 2010 - School’s Concert National Cultural Centre@ 12 noon
• Wednesday 17th February, 2010 -“ Sound Off”- Parading through the City @ 4:00pm
• Friday 19th February, 2010 - Lunch Time Concert- Dereck Walcott Square @
• 12 noon
• Sunday 21st February 2010 - Workshops (drum major, Conducting etc) @ 9:00am
• Monday 22nd February 2010 - Independence Day Parade
