Levern Graces Directory Cover

Saint Lucia and the Caribbean’s best high-jumper, Levern Spencer became the youngest person ever to grace the covers of LIME Services Directory, appearing on the company’s 2010 publication.
The directory was unveiled Tuesday at the Babonneau Primary School, the primary school she attended and where her abilities in that sport were first recognized.
Spencer, as a result of this, finds herself in a league which includes DereK Walcott, Dame Sessene Descarte, Sir Dunstan St Omer, Barbara Cadet and Ronald ‘Boo’ Hinkson, all being Saint Lucians who have reached excellence in their respective fields of endeavour and all having graced the covers of the directory.
“Having her on the cover is not only a tribute to her outstanding achievements but a demonstration of faith in the ability of Saint Lucia’s youths to reach the top and excel,” Sean Auguste said Tuesday at the unveiling.
Spencer is originally from Babonneau. She attended the Babonneau Primary School, Entrepot Secondary, Albany State College and the University of Georgia. Her high jump records include the Saint Lucia national record and records for CARICOM, CARIFTA Games and Central American and Caribbean Senior Championships.

Several times Saint Lucia’s Sportswoman of the Year she was the only Saint Lucian to qualify for the 2009 IAAF World Championships in Athletics. For the 2010 indoor season she is ranked third in the Americas and second in the British Commonwealth in her event.
The company notes that it would be providing her with sponsorship support in recognition of her world-class athletic talent.
However despite all the accolades coming her way Spencer remains as humble and easy going as ever, noting that while it is always a great feeling for one to know that his or her achievements are being recognized and rewarded all of that would not have been possible without the help of certain persons whom she went on to name.
“As a young Saint Lucian I am extremely grateful for the contribution that LIME has made in my life, first as a student then as an athlete. Last year they showed their faith and confidence in my ability by way of a sponsorship which is definitely assisting with my sporting endeavours and for that I will forever be grateful. Today I am delighted that they have again demonstrated their appreciation and support by featuring me on the cover of their telephone directory for the period 2010/2011. This I consider an honour,” Spencer said.
