Kids Insight Team arrived in Saint Lucia

A 6-member Children’s Vision Rehabilitation Project (CVRP) team is in Saint Lucia from February 6 -19 2010 as part of their annual Kids Insight Project.
Kids Insight Project is a joint project with the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) and the Lions Clubs of St. Lucia. Its goal is to address pediatric eye care for children with blinding eye conditions. The Kids Insight project reflects the ideal eye care programme: sensitization and awareness, a good referral system, prevention, education and intervention including surgical, medical, refractive, low vision assessments and provision of devices, rehabilitation and good fellow-up.
The 6-member team has been committed to Kids Insight since its inception in 2003 and continues to vow their commitment.

This is the team 8th visit to Saint Lucia and has examined a total of 179 children and adults.
Kids insight can attribute its success to the support and commitment of its many partners:
Lions International, Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education, Victoria Hospital, St. Jude’s Hospital, Customs and Excise and Pitons Foundation.
Also as part of their visit the team will be hosting a children’s fair for the many children who have received assistance during the past eight years. This will take place on Sunday, February 7, 2010 at Pigeon Island from 3:00-5:00 p.m. The clinics will begin on Monday, February 8, at the Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association.
