Calypso to hold General Meeting

The St Lucia Calypso Association 2009 is getting ready to hold its first General Meeting this Saturday August 28, 2010 at the Entrepot Human Resource Center from 10:00 am.
The Association has been in existence from December 2009 and members have been quietly putting in workable systems to enable this new Association to function effectively and efficiently. One the major efforts of this new Association, was the ratification of a Constitution and Bye-laws to govern the way the Association is managed.
Although the Cultural Development Foundation was the main body responsible for this year’s calypso season, the SLCA 2009 was integral in the organization of the season. One of the major achievements for the SLCA 2009 thus far is the implementation of Rules of Competition for the first time in St Lucia this year, in addition to the criteria for competition.
 
 

The Association has demonstrated its organizational fortitude with the staging of the successful Kaiso for Haiti fundraiser earlier this year where EC$ 16,000.00 was raised and delivered to the Government of St Lucia on behalf of the Haiti Fund.
The Association thus far has been managed by a Council made up of three representatives from each registered calypso tent, and three ordinary unaffiliated members. The Agenda for this meeting includes:
1.Membership of the Association
2.Constitution & Bye-Laws of the SLCA 2009
3.Financial Statement of SLCA 2009
4.Post Mortem of 2010 Season
5.The Way Forward (including Election of Officers)
The Association extends an invitation to all calypsonians and ordinary members to attend this important historical meeting this Saturday August 28 at 10:00 am.
