Two employees
told this reporter that just last week, another
anonymous call was made to one of the offices
in that building claiming there was a bomb
on the premises.
Many of the affected employees complained
on Tuesday that the prank call affected their
workload on many levels. Loss of work hours,
they say, results in failing to meet output
deadlines and also have a psychological effect
on them in terms of their safety.
Around 3 p.m. a team of officers were seen
entering the building, apparently to conduct
a search of the premises.
The incident also affected those wishing to
conduct business at the affected offices.
Yesterday morning, normal business resumed
at the Heraldine Rock Building.
However, authorities are appealing to the
general public to desist from making prank
calls of that nature. They contend that responding
to such incidents not only raise public fear
but put a strain on already limited human
resources.
Nevertheless, authorities say that all such
incidents are treated with a high level of
priority. In addition, authorities say that
it is an offence to engage in making prank
calls of that nature.
