During
the one-year period of the competition, schools
that would have improved the most will be awarded
in relation to the criteria which includes health
promotion, healthy lifestyles, safety and security,
environmental sustainability, and community
involvement.
There are two categories in the competition:
primary schools and secondary schools, respectively,
and participating schools stand to benefit from
attractive prizes such as computers, printers,
internet connectivity, educational materials
and monetary rewards, plus bragging rights.
According to Vlugman, schools which score the
lowest at the start of the competition have
the greatest advantage of emerging the ultimate
winner/s.
So far, Consolidated Foods Ltd. has donated
$10,000 and monetary assistance also came from
RBTT. Organizers are currently pitching the
idea to other corporate partners to gain added
support.
Just this year -- in early January – one
primary school was forced to shut its doors
for an extended period due to an intolerable
rat infestation at the learning institution.
Problems such as those, Vlugman said, is what
the competition seeks to prevent.
