Drugs:
Officers
from the Special Service Unit (SSU) and the Criminal Investigations
Department (CID) in Vieux Fort conducted a search on the
premises of 33 year old Wellington Octalien of West Hall
Group, Vieux Fort about 11:00pm on Monday the 25th of February
2008.
The following items were recovered at the house:
* 2 parcels containing marijuana with a total weight of
55 lbs
* 112.1 grams of crack cocaine
Wellington Octalien was arrested and charged for the offences
of Possession of Cannabis, Possession of cannabis with intent
to supply, Possession of cocaine and Possession of Cocaine
with intent to Supply.
Octalien was taken to court on Wednesday the 27th of February
2008.
House
Fire:
John Biroo of Marc, quarter of Castries was burnt to death,
when his home was completely destroyed by fire on Sunday
the 25th of February 2008.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding
his death.
A post mortem examination was performed on Wednesday the
27th of February 2008.
WARNING:
The Fraud Unit of the
Royal St. Lucia Police Force is appealing to St. Lucians
to be aware of persons or companies via the internet, asking
you to be foreign payment representatives for their company.
These persons/companies are sending postal money orders
as a form of payment. These Postal Money Orders are fraudulent.
Some of the names used in these emails are:
1. Claude Thompson
2. David Pixon
3. Alex Okiro
One of the email addresses used to send these emails is:

Any one who received these money orders are asked to take
them in to the Fraud Unit located at the Criminal Investigations
Department (C.I.D), Police Headquarters, Bridge Street,
Castries.
Caught
with Guns and Drugs
On Friday the 15th of February
2008, a Search Warrant was executed on the premises of Christian
Henry, age 33 of Petit Bough Street, in Anse La Raye. During
the search the following items were recovered:
One (1) 12 Gauge shot gun with 10 rounds of ammunition,
one (1) 9mm pistol with one round of ammunition, approximately
1.81 Kgs of cannabis, a quantity of jewelry (gold) and a
video camera. Henry has been charged for the following offences:
1. Possession of controlled drugs.
2. Possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply
to another
3. Unlawful possession
4. Possession of one 12 gauge shot gun
5. Converting firearm
6. Possession of one 9mm pistol
7. Possession of ammunition.
Acting upon information, the officers conducted an operation
at La Point in Mon Repos on Saturday the 16th of February,
2008. During that operation, a search warrant was executed
on the premises of Chester Prince, age 29 of La Point. A
quantity of 5.742 Kgs of dried cannabis was recovered during
that search and in the process; six hundred and twenty six
(626) plants and 23 seedlings were recovered at the residence
of Louvin Mathurin, age 35 also of La Point. An eradication
exercise on that same day resulted in one hundred and thirty
six (136) fully grown plants being destroyed, also in La
Point. Chester Prince and Louvin Mathurin were charged for
the following offences:
1. Possession of controlled drugs and possession of controlled
drugs with intent to supply to another.
Luovin Mathurin was also charged for Cultivation.
