Massachusetts changes course 52 to 47 percent in favour of GOP

After forty seven years of Democratic rule, the state of Massachusetts alters course in favour of the Republican brigade. Serious questions are being levied against the Obama administration as this could very well represent the breaking and turning point for his administration’s golden touch. The loss of such a secure seat is indicative of the perception of an electorate. Massachusetts became a semi socialised state because of the Kennedy vision and their charismatic appeal.
Has this vision and charisma vanished in the passing away of Senator Kennedy some months ago or has the reality of capitalism infiltrated the system based on the relentless attacks against the Obama administration for the Health Plan and the enormous borrowings executed to save the collapse of the US Banks which was a mess created by George Bush and the Republican brigade. The Republican supporters visualise an additional burden on their purse strings in light of the Health Plan and have been able to sell their ill feelings diligently, simultaneously, branding Obama as a hard core socialist.

Consistent and well laid propaganda can be lethal to any political administration despite their credibility and performance which is very sad, but the new spin theory has undoubtedly earned its ranking within the political spectre. Political fortunes can evaporate rather quickly especially when situations are taken for granted. Mrs Martha Coakley apparently took the Massachusetts electorate for granted based on Senator Kennedy’s solid foundation along with the fact that a degree of arrogance surfaced during her poorly organised campaign.
Mr Scott Brown the Republican candidate was hungry and anxious enough to capitalise on Mrs Coakley’s shortcomings and so 52% to 47% of the registered votes was the outcome. Mr Brown intends wasting very little time in heading to the senate to exercise his objection to the Health Care Plan, however, we can now expect some real legal manoeuvres to ensure that the Health Plan does go through. It is felt by a large majority within the US that this Health Plan was insufficiently transparent and any further pressure to consolidate this piece of legislation will undoubtedly affect the democrats in the November elections. We can safely assume that Mr Obama’s honeymoon has genuinely ended and it is going to be an uphill battle henceforth.
