No money no love, could your daughter be next?
By Randall “Lion I” Mondesir

No money no love, unfortunately this statement has become the detriment of our sociological demise, this statement has brought down many young women and men to their knees, and it is creating monsters out of many St Lucian youth.
There used to be a time when our nation stood tall and proud, we shared, we laughed, we loved, but most of all we respected each other, and we got back respect. These where simple times and when I say simple, I mean when people’s needs did not supersede their wants. Why have things changed might you ask, well the answer is evident, we simply do not market good family values. Our governments in the past were always too quick to invest in certain organizations that have not produced modernize methods, along with experienced thinkers that understand that we need to embrace all our human resource in order to stimulate our people’s behavioral patterns in order to produce a more sociable and acceptable environment for our children. The elite of our nation must want to amass the fortitude to challenge and change our youth for the better. We desperately need to financially invest in a committee that will be able to market an awareness campaign directed to improve moral, integrity, principle, patriotism and good family ethics. The problem stems directly from the top, our leaders (officials, managers, business owners, etc).
Leaders both past and present have not ceased the malpractice of immature promiscuous behavior. You would think that these grown men have established the fact that they are no longer commoners in society, but they are our role models. If we do not market proper social behavior, there are entities out there that will pray like vultures on our young, innocent, fragile, and very venerable women. Some of these elite men subject our young women to performing sexual acts of sodomy too gruesome to mention. We allow ourselves to be fooled by men who have a higher authority, and look at them as respectable individuals. But instead, these men after acquiring top positions in society aspire to be rock stars and not role models. They tend to spend exorbitant amounts of their cash to impress the opposite sex, making this new form of prostitution sociably acceptable. This trend is used to seduce our women and they have developed an attitude of cash for comfort or friendship. This new found way of life has led our youth to very dangerous encounters which would leave a very bad taste in any one’s life. The cycle is horrific. Would you believe that many young women today do not label as good a man because he may provide a good future, a stable life style, or show them a high level of respect. Instead our young women look for a man that can constantly put raw cash in their hands. They are not the only ones to blame, most of the time their own family members encourage them into this life style in order to facilitate material goods for themselves as well. The objective is to round up two or three of these men so they may acquire a steady flow of cash, and for what you may ask? For unnecessary rubbish, hair extensions, nails, an unnecessary amount of clothes, shoes, and cell phones.
These young women have no regard for the men they get this money from, but as long as it is flowing in they seem to be satisfied. This is where their problem begins. Ladies, as long as a man is going to give you money for love without a doubt eventually he will begin to see you as an object and he will treat you like one.

That is when the verbal and physical abuse begins. These men hold our young women for ransom based on the material goods that they have purchased for them. When the woman does not repond to the man’s needs on command he threatens to take back his investments, beginning with the cell phone that he bought. In many of these cases our young women usually get pregnant by these men and because the man has bought his way into the woman’s life, his subconscious thoughts are filled with suspicious behavior on her part. Eventually the day will come when he calls her, and she does not answer the phone. He thinks that she is with someone else so he immediately denies the child is his. The man immediately uses this opportunity to run from his responsibility. Ladies, does this not sound too familiar. Or there are the cases of women that men meet for the first time and if there is a hint of attraction on the man’s side she will call him the next day with a financial problem usually costing anywhere from $200 - $400. The outcome of this life style is always the same. Our young women come out of these situations abused, broke, broken, and demoralized, but most of all labeled as a bad choice of marital material. Leaders of our great nation must now begin a healing process, I strongly suggest we launch a campaign that is geared towards arresting such behavior. We must now hold our leaders responsible for this catastrophe, and it must stop NOW.
I suggest that we use one week of the year to elevate and celebrate our women in a respectable fashion. We need to award our women for outstanding duty, hold a national parade of women only, with fashion shows and pageants to follow. We must bring back a level of pride to our people, or all our children’s children will suffer. Parents you may not know it but your child may very well be in a situation of abuse or is the abuser. Can you believe that many of our men commit crime to satisfy the wants of their women so they can, as the saying goes “TAKE CARE OF YOU”? It is so strange most of these young men can’t even take care of themselves or their family members but they will risk their lives to play “macho” man.
The problem is not treating a woman right; it is the motive behind the kindness. The beautiful women of our country are responsible for the way our society is directed. They are usually the single mothers who must assume the roles of breadwinners, and fathers to our children. Most of us in St Lucia are products of a split family unit. This has created a major strain on our social strata, and has had a tremendous effect on our youth. Let us not lead them down an even darker hole. Gentlemen read this article twice. What goes around comes around, your daughter could be next.
