Toyota pays the price of success

We have attentively followed the allegations levelled against Toyota in respect to a discrepancy with the acceleration peddle of a particular model. Hardly anyone would disagree with the authorities responsible for this kind of oversight, but we are alarmed over the extensive media coverage directed against Toyota. To date, there has only been 124 complaints in comparison to the vast number of those vehicles on the road.
Toyota produces one of the very best vehicles on the market and is known to be a responsible manufacturer at home and abroad and without any doubt whatsoever, the company will never allow its impeccable image to be tarnished. In all of the company’s years in business, we don’t recall any major issues and we are simply horrified at the level of negative publicity which has taken place to date.
Over the years, we have witnessed umpteen recalls by both US and European manufacturers but nothing like the ongoing media intensity which has been levelled towards Toyota. A careful analysis of this situation tells how intrusive investigations can reach against successful organisations and individuals.

In the case of Toyota, it more or less tells us that successful organisations are not permitted to err in any way and this we consider sad as it is a group of human beings working at the various factories. The new Toyota Hybrid vehicle which has recently been placed on the US market is already being targeted for some unproven defects. Toyota has been working diligently for years on improving the mileage on their various products at the same time paying special emphasis on lessening carbon emissions and in our view other car manufacturers should be working in tandem with Toyota to come up with the right product instead of destructive criticism.
We sometimes wonder if the level of thinking in the world only understands one way of contribution and that is to destroy and dismantle. We see this approach towards politicians all the time and have witnessed the kind of damage inflicted on some very promising individuals starting with Barrack Obama who has taken a bashing after working so diligently. We trust that Toyota will emerge much stronger after all this negative publicity.
