Saint
Lucia -A Prayerful Nation
In
today’s trying economic and political
times, it is easy to become overwhelmed with
stress and the problems of this God-given life
on planet earth. During these crucial times,
many people including Lucians call out to the
omnipotent and omniscient GOD for rescue. They
also call out to Jesus Christ, Buddha, Mohammed,
Moses, The Virgin Mary, their guardian angels,
and any other spiritual force they can think
of to help them. Sometimes we get help. Sometimes
we don’t. Often, we are left wondering
if there is any way to make a clearer connection
to the Creator. In a time of need, it is our
nature to cry out to the Creator for help, protection,
deliverance and salvation.
Surely, St. Lucia is undoubtedly a prayerful
nation. Saint Lucians are well known to be DEVOUT
during their regular supplication. No doubt,
this nation has been spared the ravages of natural
disasters and acts of God.
In fact, there are numerous religious denominations
in St. Lucia, including the Catholic Church,
Anglican Church, Methodist Church, Jehovah Witnesses,
Bahai, Mormons, Pentecostal Assemblies, First
Baptist Church, Streams of Power, Behel Tabernacle,
Apostolic Faith, Castries Evangelic Churches
of the West Indies, Seventh Day Adventist (SDA),
Weslyan Holiness Church, Christian Faith Assembly,
Church of Christ, Church of God, Church of the
Nazarene, Full Gospel Tabernacle, New Testament
Church of God, Outreach Worship Centre, etc,
etc.
Obviously, the foregoing religious denominations
represent a “prayerful nation” whose
citizenry (Saint Lucians) are seeking salvation
and redemption of their sins.
Therefore, as a “Christian Society”
St. Lucia should come to grips with political
divisiveness, the surge in criminality, juvenile
delinquency and recidivism.
Two of our most powerful prayers are The Miracle
Prayer and The Lord’s Prayer which are
thousands of years old. Each of them have caused
miracles in the lives of countless individuals
throughout the “Global Village”.
