Richard
Frederick Is No Politician
THE
EDITOR,
These days when we use the term politician to the general
populace, most people turn up their noses in dismay; it is
unfortunate that the world of politics has taken a turn for
the worse. But alas, we can only blame the politicians for
this. The sweet words, false gestures, and promises that are
not kept seem to rule over morals, principles, loyalty and
honour. It is very rare that we can count on a select few
good leaders who are willing and bold enough to stand against
the turbulent tides and live up to his or her words. By the
grace of God one man has gathered the intelligence, strength
and know how, to change the way we see politicians in St.
Lucia. That man is Richard Frederick, and he is no politician.
Richard did not wait a minute to establish the art of great
governance. The second he stepped into office he began to
work, in some cases using his own money, from renovating a
Castries community centre, building sporting facilities, providing
immediate jobs, to first home owners’ housing projects,
and the list goes on and on. Even when things were slow in
2007 with the new government, and the unfortunate death of
Sir John, Richard did not stop. He had to fulfil his dream
of building a better St. Lucia: When a man like Richard exerts
so much into his people and country, I am sorry but he does
not deserve to be called a politician, he should be called
provider, saviour, or outstanding Leader.
Where
some leaders may tend to play God, and it is usually one or
two selected ones, Richard Frederick is one of the most approachable
leaders in this country today. When you talk to him he gives
you his straight, honest, and truthful opinion on the spot;
it’s either a yes or a no, and when Richard says yes,
unlike the average politician he has always delivered. If
you think I’m wrong do what I do, go around and ask
the average St. Lucian and the many lives Richard has changed
for the better. It is without a doubt that Richard has set
precedence, he is by every means an example for many politicians
to change their ways and become true leaders of men. 2007
was a great year for the many, many St. Lucians who had the
privilege of coming into contact with Richard, and we look
forward to a great 2008. As many around the country would
say Richard does not Politrick, he LEADS.
