NSA Panel Trains Its Members In Proposal Writing
By Alison Pierre – Non-State Actors Panel

Members of the St. Lucia Non-State Actors Panel had a special opportunity to participate in a two-day proposal writing workshop which was held on August 28th and 29th 2010 at the Human Resource Development Center in Entrepot. The workshop is part of a series of training workshops which are aimed at institutional strengthening and preparing Non-Governmental Organizations to be more effective in meeting the needs of their members.
The idea of hosting a proposal writing workshop was made by several members of the organization and it was not surprising that the event was very well attended, with a total of thirty-two members attending and participating actively throughout.
The objective of the workshop was to instruct leaders and executive officers of NGOs to prepare excellent project proposals which will be successful in attracting funding for their work. The workshop also focused on providing fund-raising guidelines and strategies.

Mr. Brandon Antoine, Chairman of the Non-State Actors Panel delivered the opening remarks for the workshop and encouraged the participants to put what they learn from the workshop into practice immediately. He also encouraged them to do home work exercises which can be shared with other workshop participants. On the second day of the workshop participants had an opportunity to work in groups and to prepare project proposals which were reviewed and approved by the facilitators, after some minor adjustments were made.

At the end of the workshop all participants received Certificates of Participation and they highly praised the Activities Committee of the Non-State Actors Panel, for organizing such a vital training exercise. Participants also highly praised the facilitators, including Ms. Regiona Prospere who prepared the Manual and teaching tools.
