Meet SLASPA’s Management Team

One month ago, we introduced you to our General Manager Mr. Sean Matthew, a consummate professional with an impressive academic record who is credited with achieving major accomplishments in less than three years on the job at SLASPA. Humbled by nature, Mr. Matthew would be the first to say that, the credit should really go to his hard working Management Team and their staff. The team that he refers to comprise of twelve executives who heads the various departments at SLASPA.
As our name implies, two of our critical departments are the Airports and Seaport departments or divisions as is frequently referred to at SLASPA. Mr. Peter Jean, an aviation industry veteran with over 35 years experience heads the Airports Division. Mr. Adrian Hilaire, a former Marine Pilot, with over twenty years experience in the maritime industry now heads the Seaport Division. The other departments namely Corporate Services, Finance, Engineering, Port Police, Legal, Information Systems, Marketing, Human Resources and Administration all form support services as they provide invaluable services to the Airports and Seaports.
Heading our Corporate Division is Senior Director, Mr. Ben Emmanuel, former Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Communications, Works, Transport and Public Utilities. In his role as Senior Director he is responsible for the Corporate Services, Legal, Information Systems and Human Resource and Administration Departments. Mr. Emmanuel leads a team of dedicated professionals namely, Grace Michel, Director - Information Systems, Nadia Alcide, Manager- Employee Compensation, Beverly Dulcie, Manager - Employee Development and Danine Jones, Legal Officer/Corporate Secretary. These talented ladies fulfill some of SLASPA’s major roles which include designing, implementing and maintaining SLASPA’s computer information systems taking care of the needs of its over 400 employees and ensuring that SLASPA operates within the Legal framework under its parent Act, regulations and all other applicable statutory and common law requirements. The management team within the Corporate Services and Administration Division is driven by a passion for high quality customer service and responsiveness to stakeholders’ needs.

 
 

The all important Finance Department is headed by Daniella Martelly, a Chartered Accountant. Alongside the Finance Department is the Internal Audit Department which is headed by Cuthbert Nathoniel also a Chartered Accountant. Together they ensure the prudent financial management of SLASPA’s finances. As a Port Authority with safety and security as one of its top priorities, the Ports Police Department is essential to the operations of the Ports. This department is headed by Mr. Kennedy Francis, Chief of Ports Police who was actually the first Ports Police Officer to have moved through the ranks to become Chief of Ports Police.
It is no secret that SLASPA is an organization with a major asset base, therefore, our Engineering Department is very often at the center of the organization, keeping our ports well maintained while managing our many projects. This department is headed by the multi-skilled. Mr. Chidi Tobias, Chief Engineer who is also a Professional Management Professional (PMP). The most recent addition is the Marketing and Research Department which is headed by Dona Regis, a Professional Certified Marketer (PCM). Though new to SLASPA, the department is “ in with both feet” with a responsibility to make the organization more market–oriented which includes, customer service, research, product development, public relations and port promotions.
With General Manager, Sean Matthew, this team of dedicated men and women is indeed committed to the success of the organization and meeting the needs of its customers. In less than three years as a team, they have been able to achieve some major milestones in their respective departments.
