Women’s Empowerment Seminar A Resounding Success!

By all accounts the first ever Women’s Empowerment seminar presented by Milestone Development Ltd. in association with LIME was a resounding success. After months of preparation, this power packed one day seminar aimed at personal growth and development for the women of St. Lucia delivered all the goods. An all female lineup of unique and talented speakers highlighting many areas that affect women’s lives presented on topics such as: self esteem, ‘doing it all’, mid-life transitions, marriage and the other woman, balancing career and family, and managing finances. With such a range of topics, there was something in it for everyone in attendance.
Communications consultant and author of Bring It On! Women Embracing Midlife, Christine Schaap, kick-started the day by encouraging the audience to restore their shattered dreams. This thought provoking session was followed by local radio personality and motivational speaker, Angie Montoute. Her powerful presentation on having it all, career, husband, children, emotional wellbeing, health and happiness, was captivating and enlightening.
Country Manager for CMMB St. Lucia’s, Carole Eleuthere-Jn Marie, with over twenty years of senior management experience in the field of Finance, gave the women great life changing financial management advice that resonated with the audience. 1998 Miss Universe Wendy Fitzwilliams, author of Letters To Ailan, attorney and Vice President of Investment Promotion for Evolving Technologies spoke on The New Single Mother: empowered, enlightened, professional, winging it.

The final presentation of the day and the keynote speaker – Ms. Star Jones closed the symposium with a powerful speech on Standing in the Space God has created for YOU….Life Lessons Learned the Hard Way. As Star Jones so aptly expressed following her presentation, “Women have the ability to empower each other through personal examples of challenges faced and battles won. I was so pleased to participate in a programme that encourages women to stand in the space God created for them. That is empowerment at its Best.”
This personal motivational symposium was attended by over 150 women from all backgrounds, organizations and regions of St. Lucia inclusive of Her Excellency the Governor General of St. Lucia Dame Pearlette Louisy and the wife of the Prime Minister, Mrs. Rosemary King. The symposium also attracted women regionally from islands such as Jamaica, St. Vincent, Barbados and Trinidad. Attendees all expressed receiving tremendous benefit from all of the speakers and look forward to future symposiums hosted by Milestone Development. The managing director of Milestone Development Limited, Mrs. Lisa Charles in closing expressed her deep gratitude to all in attendance who supported the symposium and further reiterated her commitment to the personal development of Saint Lucians and persons from other Caribbean Countries through the hosting of various seminars, workshops and symposiums in the future.
