National
Dollar Day For Haiti

The
recent devastations of the earthquake event
of January 12th in Haiti have left most of us
heartbroken. The loss of human life is simply
overwhelming. Death and destruction have proven
once more to be apathetic towards men, women
and children. Haiti still needs our help and
will need every form of support given in the
coming months and years.
To this end I as Commonwealth Youth Ambassador
have organized with the endorsement and support
from the Ministry of Education and Culture a
National Dollar Day for all students across
the island dubbed: ‘Give A Dollar; Help
A Brother’ scheduled for Tuesday February
2, 2010. Students of the Infant, Primary, Secondary,
and Tertiary institutions are all respectfully
requested to make a minimal contribution of
EC$1.00 towards the relief efforts in Haiti.
Greater generosity will be gratefully accepted.
Though Haiti is not a member of the Commonwealth,
Haiti deserves all possible support right now.
This is a terrific opportunity for children
and youth especially to impact in a very tangible
manner the relief and reconstruction efforts
in Haiti.
All contributions will be forwarded from the
schools to the respective Education Offices
on the island, then to the Ministry of Education
and finally to the Ministry of External Affairs.

Luis Bárcenas,
tesorero del Partido Popular, y Gerardo Galeote,
eurodiputado, son los dos aforados nacionales
del PP investigados por el juez Baltasar Garzón
en la 'operación Gürtel', una
trama de corrupción que afecta a miembros
del PP y que estaría liderada por Francisco
Correa, según informa Veo Televisión.El
juez de la Audiencia Nacional ha preguntado
a la Fiscalía Anticorrupción
si debe inhibirse en favor del Tribunal Supremo
de toda la causa. Ha planteado esta cuestión
en una providencia en la que da un plazo de
48 horas a la Fiscalía Anticorrupción
para que responda "urgentemente"
si mantiene su petición de inhibición
ante los Tribunales Superiores de Justicia
de Madrid y Valencia o si considera más
procedente realizar una única inhibición
ante el Supremo. En
esta providencia con fecha del martes, dada
a conocer dos horas después de que
el PP se querellara contra él por prevaricación
y tras alzar parcialmente el secreto de sumario,
el magistrado explica que un nuevo informe
policial presentado ayer a las 15.30 horas
refleja nuevos casos de aforados que implican
a la competencia del Tribunal Supremo.
