St. Lucian reggae artiste to launch 3rd album

St Lucian reggae artiste, Jeff Nolly, is gearing up to release his third solo reggae album in February.
Nolly’s album, available mid-February, will have 16 featured tracks. All songs were penned by the artiste.
“I’m excited about this album because the lyrics are more realistic and deeply conscious,” Nolly said. “The work was done much more seriously compared to previous albums, and a lot of time and thought was put into the music.”
Although Jeff Nolly’s team hasn’t yet settled on an album title for his third compilation, he said this album is of particular importance because it includes tracks about his island home, St Lucia.
Of his favorite tracks is one that speaks highly of St Lucian women, he said, while another, titled “Sweet Melody” is a slow lover’s tune that speaks of being so close yet so far to the one you love.
“I’m especially excited because I’ve never promoted my work in St Lucia, so I’m happy that St Lucians will have the opportunity to get to know my music,” he said. “I hope they like it.”
Nolly currently resides in Paris, but grew up in St Lucia as Joseph Nolly.

He was an educator at the Roseau Combined School for six years before he migrated to French Guiana, “Caynenne” as he calls it, to start a popular radio broadcasting program. His program led to the founding of the St Lucia Cultural Association in Guiana which, Nolly said, brought the history and culture of St Lucia over to Cayenne.
But music was constantly tugging at his heartstrings. In St Lucia he had used music throughout his teaching career and after moving to Cayenne, his desire for the art form became even greater. So in 1983, he packed his bags and headed to Paris to pursue his music.
“As long as I’ve known myself, my family has always been into music,” he said. “They either sang or played instruments, and I sang a lot too during my teaching career. In fact, I started my music career with Rootsy Pierre.”
Pierre’s hit song “Hilary” won him the Carnival Road March prize in 2000.
Nolly’s team is gearing up to record two music videos in St Lucia. Following the album’s release, the artiste will perform live at various island venues.
