WJL Scholarships

The management of the Windjammer Landing Villa Beach Resort and Spa is ensuring that their culture of training extends to the children of staff members. The hotel recently presented scholarships to 16 children of staff members spending thousands of dollars to ensure that they had everything they need to excel in the new school year. The generosity was also extended to children of staff members who had been recently been part of the staff rationalization process. According to Managing Director Anthony Bowen, the children should not be made to suffer because of circumstances which had nothing to do with them. Whilst all the students performed exceptionally well in the past school year, one, in particular stood out.

Hannolair Michaud, who happens to be the daughter of the SLHTA’s “Manager of the Year” awardee, Gordon Michaud, excelled at her O’Level examinations. Hannolair received seven general Grade Ones and one Grade two. The past student of the St. Joseph’s Convent will move on to university in the United Kingdom. She joins the ranks of Windjammer Scholarship recipient Heather White who is an exemplary student and is now studying medicine at Mona in Jamaica. Windjammer continues to maintain support systems for their staff and family members of their staff, who among other benefits, are entitled to up to a quarter million dollars in non-contributory health insurance. Managing Director Anthony Bowen subscribes to the idea that if the staff are cared for, so will the guests!
