Intensifies Blackberry Campaign

Local
communications provider Cable and Wireless yesterday made
its official “coming out” launch of its new Prepaid
Blackberry campaign.
At a customer awareness event held at La Place Carenage, the
company fielded questions from prospective customers as well
as signing up interested buyers.
Corporate communications executive of Cable and Wireless,
Terry Finisterre, told The VOICE that the company hopes the
general public takes advantage of the numerous benefits of
the latest promotional drive.
“We’re excited that we can afford this type of
service to our prepaid customers. This is the first time that
prepaid customers are having the ability to use Blackberry
service,” Finisterre said.
Noting that the service has been available for some weeks
now, Finisterre added that the official campaign is hoped
to spur an even added interest to customers still unsure of
using the service.
The
two models currently available are the Blackberry Curve and
the blackberry Pearl. Customers signing up for the service
get a range of conveniences, according to Finisterre.
“With this (prepaid) offer, you get basically everything
in the palm of your hands for $10 a week. Customers get e-mail,
instant messaging, internet access, unlimited browsing.
The $10 usage charge is automatically deducted from customers’
accounts once they’ve topped up and registration is
very easy. The service is unlike the regular pay-per-use system,”
added Finisterre.
The event was organized by Cable and Wireless in collaboration
with Duty Free Caribbean.
The campaign compliments the media ads that are currently
in rotation and the company has also sent text messages to
existing customers informing them of the new service.
Musical entertainment was provided by legendary musician Ronald
“Boo” Hinkson and Diamond Steel Orchestra as members
of the public took advantage of the final day for discounted
rates on Blackberry handsets.
