Kite Flying returns to Easter festivities

Twelve prizes were awarded in the annual Easter kite flying competition held at the Cas-en-Bas beach on Easter Monday. This family event that was organized by the XS Energy Carnival Band attracted a large crowd of kite-flying enthusiasts. There were forty four registered competitors ranging from 2 years to 65 years.

The following are the list of winners:

Under-13 best overall:-
1st place - Romario Simmons.
2nd place - Tairyk Girard.
3rd place - Edora Louis.

Over-13 best overall:-
1st place - Alanna Francois.
2nd place - Christine Malcolm.
3rd place - Joyann Louis.

Highest flying kite - Alanna Francois.
Largest flying kite - Sandals Grande Dive Shop Crew.
Smallest flying kite - Christine Malcolm.
Most colourful kite - Aron Daniel.
Longest flying kite - Marcus Jean.
Kite that never left
the ground - Che Hamilton.
Prizes included gift bags and products from the sponsors – Carib and Smalta - and carnival costumes for the XS Energy adult and junior portrayal for 2008. A special prize was given to The Valley Soccer Academy registering the largest group of competitors.
Kite flying is one of the regular annual activities organized by XS Energy and will once again be held on Easter Monday in 2009.
