Teenager
of St. Lucian Parentage Wins Hollywood Awards
The
dream of a teenager of St. Lucian parentage of hitting it
big in Hollywood USA came a step closer to reality when she
won three prestigious awards there recently.
Tahnee Hippolyte, 18, is the daughter of former singer Keith
Hippolyte and Model Emma Richards Hippolyte of St. Lucia,
who now resides in the United Kingdom.
Ms. Hippolyte attended the International Presentation of Performers
contest in Los Angeles where she picked up the awards for
her acting and modeling.
She beat out more than 200 other hopefuls at the John Robert
Power Drama School, in Bedford Square, Central London to be
entered in the contest in a competition that could best be
described as stiff.
On her arrival in America she had to undergo several auditions,
plays and monologues before she was presented with the awards.
“To be in Hollywood was amazing. I could not believe
my eyes when I got there,” she said.
“They
took us to see the celebrity stars along Hollywood Boulevard
and I just started to think that one day my name could be
there,” Ms. Hippolyte was quoted as saying by an online
news company from the United Kingdom.
“The whole contest has given me the encouragement I
needed to pursue my dream as an actress, model and singer,”
she was quoted as saying.
Her aunt Diane Richard of Summersdale said the entire family
was proud of the young Hippolyte’s achievements and
is fully supportive of her.
Hippolyte has dreamed of being in the entertainment/show business
as a professional singer, actress and model ever since she
was a primary schoolgoer at the Raynham Primary School in
Edmonton, England.
According to her it started out as a hobby. Later on she became
serious about it, today is certain that this would be her
career in life.
Her mom Emma, who was present at the awards show, said she
was proud of her daughter.
“You see these things on TV and then to see your daughter
in the bright lights, it just blows your mind,” she
said in an article that appeared on the online news magazine.
