Pure Doctrine: The Significance Of Jesus In The Ministry
The Old Testament Passover New Testament Lord’s Supper
Biblical date: 6th Zif, 2075

In this weekend’s paper we are going to provide more substantiating passages of scripture which depict the new moon as the main element which helps determine the date for the Lord’s Supper. The new moon unlike barley and the spring season was created specifically to determine the beginning and ending of months and the years. A lunation is one month and it runs from one new moon to another. A complete cycle of twelve lunations (defined as the period of time from one new moon to the next about 29 ½ day: a lunar month) is one year. The book of 1 Samuel outlines the details of the magnitude of Saul’s anger towards David. In chapter 20 contains an important message that many bible educators and scholars overlooked. It explains how a month begins. 1 Samuel 20: 5, 12, 18, 24, 27 & 34 states “And David said unto Jonathan, Behold, tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail to sit with the king at meat: but let me go, that I may hide myself in the field unto the third day at even. And Jonathan said unto David, O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my father about tomorrow any time, or the third day, and, behold, if there be good toward David, and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because thy seat will be empty. So David hid himself in the field: and when the new moon was come, the king sat him down to eat meat. And it came to pass on the morrow, which was the second day of the month, that David’s place was empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son, Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat, neither yesterday, nor to day? So Jonathan arose from the table in fierce anger, and did eat no meat the second day of the month: for he was grieved for David, because his father had done him shame.” It is recommended that you read the entire chapter to gain a comprehensive understanding of this important fact in this passage. The new moon is recognized throughout the scriptures. Numbers 10:10 reads “Also in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn days, and in the beginnings of your months, ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial before your God: I am the LORD your God.” Psalm 81:3 “Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.” Isaiah 66:23 “And it shall come to pass that from one new moon to another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall all flesh come to worship before me, saith the Lord.”

The Lord’s Supper, “like so many essential points of the original true doctrine, has fallen into the mire of erroneous tradition. Jude exhorts us to earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered to the saints. The Easter pagan traditions have taken over the true meaning of the Lord’s Supper and even the date of its observance. Men have rejected God’s words to venerate their gods in a very cunning and deceiving manner. According to the article ‘A Biblical Calendar’ Jerry Gentry posits “To harmonize both sun and moon, and keep the Passover in the month Abib, meaning “green ears” it becomes necessary occasionally to intercalate a thirteenth month usually done twice in each seven year cycle.” The Bible never mentioned intercalating so to go as far as adding days to ensure that the Passover occurs in spring or the Vernal Equinox is contradicting the word of God. Gentry further contradicts himself by stating that “on the Biblical calendar, the first month is Abib and the Biblical year begins on Abib 1st, which is marked and defined in the heavens by the appearance of the new moon.” In following the new moon there is no need for intercalating. However, following the spring season allows the calendar to be subject to intercalations. The scriptures do not indicate nor support the use of intercalations. Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.”
To be continued. Have a blessed week.
