Pure Doctrine:
The Significance Of Jesus In The Ministry
The Old Testament Passover New
Testament Lord’s Supper
Biblical date: 6th
Zif, 2075
In this weekend’s
paper we are going to provide more substantiating
passages of scripture which depict the new moon
as the main element which helps determine the
date for the Lord’s Supper. The new moon
unlike barley and the spring season was created
specifically to determine the beginning and
ending of months and the years. A lunation is
one month and it runs from one new moon to another.
A complete cycle of twelve lunations (defined
as the period of time from one new moon to the
next about 29 ½ day: a lunar month) is
one year. The book of 1 Samuel outlines the
details of the magnitude of Saul’s anger
towards David. In chapter 20 contains an important
message that many bible educators and scholars
overlooked. It explains how a month begins.
1 Samuel 20: 5, 12, 18, 24, 27 & 34 states
“And David said unto Jonathan, Behold,
tomorrow is the new moon, and I should not fail
to sit with the king at meat: but let me go,
that I may hide myself in the field unto the
third day at even. And Jonathan said unto David,
O LORD God of Israel, when I have sounded my
father about tomorrow any time, or the third
day, and, behold, if there be good toward David,
and I then send not unto thee, and shew it thee
Then Jonathan said to David, To morrow is the
new moon: and thou shalt be missed, because
thy seat will be empty. So David hid himself
in the field: and when the new moon was come,
the king sat him down to eat meat. And it came
to pass on the morrow, which was the second
day of the month, that David’s place was
empty: and Saul said unto Jonathan his son,
Wherefore cometh not the son of Jesse to meat,
neither yesterday, nor to day? So Jonathan arose
from the table in fierce anger, and did eat
no meat the second day of the month: for he
was grieved for David, because his father had
done him shame.” It is recommended that
you read the entire chapter to gain a comprehensive
understanding of this important fact in this
passage. The new moon is recognized throughout
the scriptures. Numbers 10:10 reads “Also
in the day of your gladness, and in your solemn
days, and in the beginnings of your months,
ye shall blow with the trumpets over your burnt
offerings, and over the sacrifices of your peace
offerings; that they may be to you for a memorial
before your God: I am the LORD your God.”
Psalm 81:3 “Blow up the trumpet in the
new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn
feast day.” Isaiah 66:23 “And it
shall come to pass that from one new moon to
another, and from one Sabbath to another, shall
all flesh come to worship before me, saith the
Lord.”
