RG Group wins ‘Idea of the Year’ prize at Chamber’s Business Awards ceremony

Businessman Rayneau Gajadhar has been awarded by the Chamber of Commerce with the JQ Charles Award for Idea of the Year. He won the prize at the St. Lucia Business Awards Ceremony held Saturday evening at the Sandals Grande Beach Resort and Spa.
The Chamber said before the ceremony that the award “will be presented to the organization demonstrating an ability to take advantage of unexplored opportunities, solve a problem or address a serious need with a fresh, new ‘out of the box’ concept that is both sustainable and viable.”
Last year, Mr Gajadhar’s RG Group initiated the Construction Industry Stimulus Package, which resulted in dramatic decreases in the prices of building materials throughout the country.
As the current school year began last September, the RG Group of Companies also formally announced the Discovering Entrepreneurs – Generation Next program, which had a formal Press Launch on January 7th.
The Gen X program encourages young persons to develop innovative, creative and self-sustaining projects for themselves or their communities, alone or along with others. The RG Group has committed $50,000.00 to the project to help successful applicants take their proposed projects from idea to reality.
Scores of young persons from across the country have been indicating interest in the Gen X program and have been applying to register and participate.
Mr Gajadhar says he is “very pleased” that his group has won the award. He says it is intended to become an annual project and is encouraging other local public and private sector entities to join his RG Group “to make the program as national as possible.”
