RBTT
St Lucia is the proud recipient of an Award of Excellence
2007 for Corporate Social Responsibility from the St Lucia
Chamber of Commerce.
The Bank which boasts of its objective to “serve society
through discharge of its obligations to those who have a stake
in its operations-shareholders, customers and the general
public,” has taken up the mantle of undertaking other
projects in addition to its “normal” business.
One of the projects which the Bank has undertaken is the commitment
of developing young people via the Young Leaders Program.
The program which started in St Lucia in 1998 has been ongoing
and has become an award winning program. See article feature).
Contributions
In addition to running the Young Leaders program the bank
extends itself to assist those seeking educational development.
The bank holds a “Deed of Covenant” with a yearly
contribution of one thousand dollars ($1000.00) to CARE, an
organization specializing in vocational studies for marginalized
youth. A contribution was made to facilitate the modernization
and refurbishment of the St Aloysius RC Boys School.
A young student was assisted in her pursuit of excellence
by the staff of RBTT bank who collected the needed funds for
her to obtain school requisites to attend Sir Arthur Community
College.
Seeking
to provide UWI students both full time and part time with
greater opportunity to purchase computers to help with their
education the bank introduced a special loan plan.
The no down-payment, maximum four year repayment plan seeks
to lend to students with great ease and comfort. Students
were advised of this opportunity through the schools website,
distribution of literature through the university and the
print media.
Another reduced lending program called 3-2-1 was launched
in July 2007 to September 2007. With a maximum unsecured limit
of EC ten thousand dollars ($10000.00), no payment for sixty
(60) days and a reduced lending rate, over 50% of customers
availed themselves of this facility for educational purposes.
Additionally, RBTT St Lucia has contributed meaningfully and
positively to the development of communities around the island.
Through The RBTT BANK “Heart of our Community”
program, greater emphasis is placed non widespread impact
and sustainability of social investment programs as communities
are built.
When St Lucia celebrated its annual Jounen Kweyol festival,
RBTT bank was right there expressing its national pride.
In October 2007, RBTT took pride in giving back to the community
in a very special way. That day was called “Customer
Appreciation Day and the staff and management participated
in the Jounen Kweyol Celebrations, by organizing an all day
treat for patrons of the bank. Anyone visiting the bank whether
customer or not was welcomed with open arms. The Blind Orchestra
played a very significant role in the celebrations by performing
for all the visitors including the staff of RBTT.
RBTT BANK was also instrumental in bringing Jazz to the nation
by providing sponsorship to thee “Jazz on the green”
event held by the St Lucia Golf & Country Club (a concert
to raise funds for charity).
