More ICAR Controversy

Saint Lucians have not heard the last of the conflict raging amongst members of ICAR (Iyanola Council for the Advancement of Rastafari) as yet another high ranking member has called for the resignation of its President, Aaron Alexander, on the grounds that some of its funds are unaccounted for.
Meanwhile a January 29, 2012 general meeting of the Council in Dennery could turn out to be the most turbulent one in the Council’s history as members, past and present, some of whom have been scorched by the conflict dogging the Council, converge at the Clendon Mason Secondary School.
Bernadette King, the immediate past treasurer of the ICAR has come out blasting Alexander and calling for his resignation at the same time.
King, who was dismissed as treasurer blew the whistle further on monies unaccounted for by the Council. Indications of monies unaccounted for by the Council were first raised by Peter “Ras Ipa” Isaac who was subsequently expelled from the Council for what they claimed was Isaac’s baseless accusations leveled at the Council.

King has come out in support of Isaac. She, earlier this week, took Alexander to task saying, on a radio talk show, that receipts were not forthcoming from the president after she asked for them on many occasions.
She said that ICAR accounts are in a mess and that the problem that exists between herself and the president was all about her asking him for receipts. She calls on ICAR’s entire Board of Directors to resign over this scandal.
A recent audit conducted by ICAR has removed the treasurer from the scandal and confirmed that monies are unaccounted for at the Council.
The sum of $4663.46 is audited as being unaccounted for. However the audit report noted that there was no evidence of misuse or misappropriation of funds.
The audited report noted that the treasurer was not involved in or responsible for a number of withdrawals from the bank during the period March 1st – August 17, 2011.
