A St. Lucian Who Made his Mark

We lose great people every day … it is an inevitable process, that of living and dying; and all we can ask for is to be remembered with affection and fondness when we have passed on – so we live our lives doing good to our fellow man, so that we may leave behind a legacy of love and service to our country and our people.
George Noon was such a man. He adopted St. Lucia as his home, built a life and raised a family here … and in every way, gave honourable service to the country, leaving his mark favourably on all who came into contact with him.
We recognize here his enormous contribution to our lives, for in every way, he left St. Lucia a little better for his having been among us, albeit for a relatively short while.
We publish here the statement issued by his family last week:
George Noon’s Passing. (An online statement from Dominic Noon, son of the deceased George Noon.)
It is with deep sorrow that the Noon family announces the passing of the head of our family, George Alan Noon M.B.E, at 7:10am on Saturday, 27th February 2010, due to heart complications. We would like to thank the medical team at Tapion Hospital, in particular Romel Daniel, for their efforts.

During the various stages throughout his life Dad was many things to many people: a husband, father, grand father, son, brother, friend, mentor, and icon. He left a mark on every single person he met and even on some he didn’t. We would like to thank all of you who have visited, called and emailed us with your kind words. It means a great deal to us.
During this week, we will be making preparations for Dad’s final journey to his vantage point in the clouds where he will continue to keep a watchful eye on each and every one of us. During this time, we might not always be able to answer the phones or be at home to accept your heart-felt words, so we have decided to use this forum to allow you, his friends, to tell Dad what is in your heart, in your own words.
We ask that you pass this website address, www.dominicnoon.com, to other friends who may wish to do the same. Dad, as well as the rest of us, would love to hear from you. You can make it as long or as short as you wish (condolences, stories, the choice is yours). I have also put up a photo gallery so that those of you who have photos of Dad, and would like to share them.
His Remembrance Service is at 3:00pm on Tuesday 9th March 2010 at the Roman Catholic Cathedral in Castries, Saint Lucia.
