A
Preference for Flawed Candidates?
Are
Saint Lucians showing a preference towards
flawed political candidates over unblemished
ones?
This question is legitimate taking into
consideration the several comments made
by persons of stature in the community
of late, questioning the character of
some of the politicians in our midst …
and the resurfacing of those same politicians
general election after general election.
Government Ministers have, by their own
doing, ensnared themselves in scandals
on a continuous basis with at least two
of them being vilified by a judge in a
judgment that went against one of them.
The constant calls for the dismissal of
the attorney general who seems unable
to win a case for the government despite
repeated calls to the government pointing
out his defects in that particular noble
profession must also be noted. It must
be pointed out that the calls for his
dismissal have come from both the opposition
and members and supporters of his own
party.
There are politicians without marketable
skills in our midst, who can hardly structure
a sentence properly when speaking and
could only survive economically by being
where they are today. Not only were they
unskilled prior to joining the political
bandwagon, but are also unskilled now
that they are on that bandwagon.
