Sentence Revoked

The editorial piece published on Tuesday February 2nd , headlined “Concerns about a political goon squad” and indicating that it had been submitted to The VOICE by one of our readers states, in its final paragraph, “Our inquiries have revealed allegations that these firearm permits were issued by a top cop who acted as Commissioner for a short period.”
We at the paper have made our own inquiries and consulted several individuals close to and within the Royal St. Lucia Police Force and have found no evidence or testimony to substantiate that statement made by the contributor.
We therefore wish to state our regret at having committed to print that sentence in the reader’s contribution. It was not our intention to cast aspersion on anyone’s character and hopefully we have not done so.

In that vein, we sincerely hope that it has caused embarrassment or inconvenience to no one in particular.
We take pride in consistently being fair, truthful and unbiased in every aspect of the publication of the paper … and on the rare occasion that it may appear that we inadvertently slip and may not be adhering to those principles, we shall always immediately embrace the opportunity to own up to any lapses or shortcomings on our part, shoulder our responsibilities and apply ourselves diligently toward rectifying the situation.
In doing so, we believe that we use any mistakes we may make as stepping stones in our constant upward quest for self-improvement and the maintaining of your satisfaction and approval.
