Music is Definitely Alive in Schools

The National Committee for the Prevention of Alcoholism & Drug Dependency - NCPADD in association with heads Up Drug Free Club the Fond Assau primary school and the organizing committee invites the general public to support the march Motorcade & Rally against Crime Violence & Drug abuse. This march is scheduled for Sunday January 29, 2012 beginning at 1:00 pm and the rally ends at 600pm.

The march which precedes the rally commences from the grounds of the Babonneau Primary School near the Roman catholic church and then proceeds to Ti Chemin to Fond Assur NCPADD thanks the honorable Minister of Health and District Representative Ms Alvina Reynolds for quick response to our request to have the road works completed for the march. The mini motorcade also commences from the same venue and proceeds along the main road towards Hill Twenty to Sky Ride in Chassin

Dr. Clement Edward, director of NCPADD is expected to give the commencement address whilst leading Gospel Soloist, Shirleyann Cyril-Mayers will lead a cast of outstanding national singers and st Lucia youngest rising artistes Chazzie Deverier and Kurina Alphonse.
Dr Edward who on Tuesday addressed the Fond Assuu Parent Teacher Association, one of the community groups that also sanctioned the activity, commended the parents for supporting the taking such an initiative. Edward also urged “do not start and stop with a march and rally but you need to continue to find other avenues and strategies to reduce the increasing crime and violence in the Babonneau environs at the community level” .
Dr Edward at the same meeting pledged NCPADD,s support to the group and the Community and presented a cheque on behalf of NCPADD to the Coordinator of the Heads Up drug Free Mrs. Madona Florenville who is a teacher of the Fond Assua Primary school. Edward also commended the Principal Mrs. Mary Gustave for her magnanimous support and noted that despite her busy schedule as principal she has also been very active and physically involved in the promotion and ensuring that the HeadsUp Drug free club came into reality.
In a local survey Fond Assuu an environ of Babonneau, was noted that to have attained a level three hot spot for crime, gun violence and drug abuse including domestic violence. Such a level calls for urgent attention to address the perceived violence and drug abuse in that community. The organizing committee for the March “N” Rally has been mobilizing the Babonneau residents, religious entities, schools, youth groups, sport associations and others to come out to large numbers and make a public statement to those who wish to destroy the lives and livelihood of the community.


 
 

The march will be accompanied by the Royal St Lucia Police Band and the St Lucia Cadet corp. The Sytop Drug Free Club reigning Mr. & Ms. Drug Free king and Queen will form part of the procession for the motorcade whilst two popular DJs and Hi Fi s’ will provide the blast for the zip to sky rides . Various Drug Free Clubs and residents and social groups from the Babonneau community will be in attendance. and specially uniformed group the Zion SDA-Pathfinders and Master Guides from La bayee SDA church will be guest paraders for the march and Rally against Crime Drug Abuse & Violence .

The march will culminate at the Fond Assua playing field next to the Fond Assua Resource Centre where the rally will begin
District Representative the Honorable Ms Alvina Reynolds will address participants other brief feature speakers include principal of the Fond Assua Primary School, representatives from the Crisis Centre, President of St Lucia Mr. Compton Bakker , Community Relations Branch of the St Lucia Police force, president of Barbados NCPADD Mr. Victor Roach, Mr .Linwall James, magistrate Florita Nicholas

Many of the performers will be from the Babonneau community and residents and the general public are invited to support the march motorcade and rally. The media has also been invited to cover and record this first in the life of the Babonneau community.
Special interest stories include testimonies from of two recovering addicts, from Babonneau and Marchand.
Well known Lucian artiste who has dedicated her life to work for others Ms. Nadine Roberts will challenge the community with her singing. The edutainment package is great with jazz pannist Manasseh Edward, Bethany Youth Choir, Plateau Youth Choral, pantomime, poems, music, recitals, medleys, drama etc

NCPADD and HeadsUp Drug Free Club invite the general public to participate as the purpose of this activity is to awaken and sensitize us all to become involved in community crime prevention and reduction.
