Mitchel “Junior” John makes the Soufriere Foundation Proud

The Board of Directors and Management of the Soufriere Foundation wish to congratulate Mitchel “Junior” John, a tour guide at the world renowned Sulphur Springs Park on winning the runner-up position in the recently held ‘Face of St. Lucia’s Tourism 2009’ competition, which was organized by the local television station The Visitor Channel.
Out of over one hundred and thirty (130) persons featured throughout the year on the program, Junior was selected as one of the twelve (12) finalists for the ‘Face of the Year’ competition. An online voting system was utilized in which Junior emerged in the runner-up position following Ms. Terrill Edwards, an Air Traffic Controller.
Junior has worked with the Soufriere Foundation as a Tour Guide for the past eleven (11) years and often deputizes as the Park Supervisor.

The proud father of eight (8) year old Hailey John has successfully completed the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College Tour Guide Training Program and is now pursuing a diploma in Travel, Tourism and Hospitality with the Association of Business Executives a UK based association. Junior also serves as Assistant Treasurer of the Soufriere Foundations’ Social Committee, which is set up to undertake various activities to encourage team spirit and philanthropy. As a tour guide, Junior has not only relied on the in-house training afforded to him by the Soufriere Foundation, but on his love for tour guiding. This love for his profession has led him to undertake extensive research in his field that is revealed in the passion and detail which is expressed in each tour he delivers to our guests.
The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the Soufriere Foundation are quite pleased with Junior’s performance and hereby express their appreciation to him for making Soufriere proud.
