Prime Minister King Tours FRC

Prime Minister Hon. Stephenson King paid a courtesy visit to the Folk Research Centre at Mount Pleasant on Friday January 29th 2010. Accompanied by members of the FRC Board and staff, the Prime Minister made an extensive tour of the cultural institution. Leading the tour was the Chairman of the Board Mr. Hilary LaForce and the Executive Director Dr. Kentry JnPierre.
The Prime Minister was informed of the ongoing work of the 37 year old FRC. He was given insights into the challenges facing the non-governmental organization.

 
 

Board members presented the Prime Minister with their plans for the future development of the FRC which serves a wide clientele of local and foreign students and researchers among others.
The PM expressed his continuing support for the important work of the Centre which is the main organizer of the annual Creole Heritage Month and Jounen Kwéyòl. A number of the publications and products of the Centre was presented to the St. Lucian leader at the end of the two and a half hour visit during which the Prime Minister committed himself and the government to supporting the work and agenda of FRC which have, at the core, programmes of cultural education, research and documentation.
