Bring
it on!
Choiseul
and Soufriere clashed in a 2007 Twenty20 fixture at the La
Fargue Playing Field last Sunday May 20th 2007 from 2:00 p.m.
On a wicket of unpredictable bounce the home team struggled
and failed to reach 100 with three overs to spare.
However the bowling was indisciplined with a couple of dropped
catches adding to their woes, allowing their Sulphur City
neighbours to run away with an eight-wicket victory.
Two
Saint Lucians qualify ahead of Beijing Olympics
Two
of the country’s top field events athletes presently
at universities in the U.S.A, high jumper Lavern Spencer and
javelin thrower Erma Gene Evans have qualified for the 2008
Olympic Games in Beijing, China.
Wayne Burton, St. Lucia Athletic Association President, revealed
yesterday that Evans and Spencer both meet the qualifying
distance and height. “It’s a wonderful feeling
and we expect both athletes to better their achievements in
up coming international events this year and before the Beijing
Games,” Burton said.
Cricketers
have a Piton to climb
Last
week the Saint Lucia National Cricket Association met with
a member of its special family as the 2007 national domestic
cricket season was about to bowl off.
Speaking at a press briefing last week, president of the Saint
Lucia National Cricket Association Bryan Calixte stated, “Without
the members of this family, cricket will, or would be extinct.”
He Calixte called on the private sector to inject more finances
and support in adopting a cricketer programme “so there
will more Darren Sammys.”
