St Lucia Jazzes Up – Barely

Saint Lucia Jazz ’07 got off to a dull start last Friday as the Chamber of Commerce (COC) hosted the opening of the event for the first time. The island’s main domestic tourism marketing event is expected to swing into the weekend on a high note, with the thrilling fusion of fringe events leading up to the main stage.

Shaking it up on the Fringe

Each year, jazz on the fringe becomes more entrenched in Saint Lucia Jazz. This year the peripheral events again had a showing that established their right to be part of the music festival.
This year headliners Tabou Combo and Fuego Latino brought the crowd to its feet as expected. The heady Latin and Creole rhythms with the distinctly familiar undertones of Caribbean music touched a chord in the responsive audience,
