Digicel’s
investment goes beyond the cricket field
Earlier
this year, an official of a regional cricket body made a number
of statements. Some of these statements called for clarification,
one of which was that “The Digicel sponsorship was the
worst thing to have happened to West Indies cricket.”
Subsequently, Marcia Bowen of Digicel’s head office
was asked to explain why such a statement/s could have been
made.
Tape
ball 20/20 coming
A number of teams
are still registering and efforts are being made to get teams
from the out-districts. This is as the organisers implement
their plans for the upcoming Knockout Tape-ball Cricket 20/20
Competition, Tape-ball Cricket Festival (Saint Lucia), which
is expected to be sponsored by Banks Premier Beer.
Scheduled to be held from May 1st – May 28th,
2007 at a venue to be announced, the competition is expected
to see top quality cricket, according to Horace Fraser.

five, but dominant
Five
Saint Lucian junior squash players left Saint Lucia last Friday
evening to participate in the Annual 2007 Junior OECS Squash
Championships which took place in St Vincent and the Grenadines
over the April 13th – 15th 2007 weekend.
Saint Lucia competed with 5 representatives, Dominica participating
in this tournament only for the second time had two representatives,
and the British Virgin Islands had five participants, while
host St Vincent and the Grenadines had 21 juniors participating,
