The
Conspiracy Theory
Before
returning to London I felt a strong urge to respond to the
article in last week’s Crusader in regards to a conspiracy
Theory in the arrest of the Parliamentary representative for
Dennery North Mark Nicholas. This was seen by the writer as
a conspiracy to oust Mark Nicholas in order to give Ausbert
D’Auvergne a clear run to be elected as the representative
for that constituency in a by-election as he would then be
in line to become Prime Minister when Sir John finally decides
to call it a day.
The
grapes of Hate
Dr. Kenny
Anthony was frequently heard to say on the 1997 election
campaign platforms, “I’ve never had or seen so
much love”. Nine years later, in reminiscing on the
perpetual malfeasance editorials on a local tabloid, on malevolent
radio and television TALK shows, on a disgruntled columnist’s
vendetta prone comments, all designed to promote a degree
of hate that could burn his flesh, he might be saying, I’ve
never had or seen so much hate”
China’s
sleeping critics must wake up to today’s new world
I decided not
to comment further on the China/Taiwan issue until a definite
position was announced by the Government, which was promised
for Thursday’s Throne Speech, but which did not materialise.
We now have to wait until next week while the game of musical
chairs (or see-saw, or yo-ro – take your pick) continues
for another few days. But in the meantime, while we wait,
I want to respond, as briefly as possible,
Budget
Day
Budget
Day is here under a succeeding government following a general
election. It may be remembered that I said of the Budget presented
by the former government that there was air of unreality about
it .
The Governor- General played her role as representative of
the people, admirably. It did not matter that her address
was prepared by another Government. Some of the prayers sound
very antiquated.
