The
Derniere Riviere Combined School won the 2007 District Five
Sports Meet with a total of 203 points, outrunning the other
eight challengers by a 23 point margin.
Dennery Infant and Primary School captured the second spot
with 180 points, followed by the Micoud Infant and Primary
School with 174 points.

These
two seniors displayed good form and technique when they left
the rest of the pack behind during the 4th Annual Saint Lucia
National Senior Games were held at the George Odlum Stadium
on Monday April 9th, 2007.
However due to the yet to be received final results from the
organisers, The VOICE is unable to publish a full story on
the event.
Cricket
World Cup gives VIP tour
Ms.
Lancia Isidore, Executive Director, and Officers of the National
Council of and for Persons with Disabilities (NCPD) were given
a First Class tour of the Beausejour Cricket Ground by Mr.
Mark Hennecart, Site Manager, and Octina Emmanuel, Local Organizing
Committees’ Special Events Manager.
Members of the group were visibly excited by the progress
of the construction and the attitude of the members of the
ICC World Cup Saint Lucia team towards the issues of disability.
ISSA
host another successful championship
On
Saturday March 31st, 2007 the Inter-Secondary School Sports
Association (ISSA) of Jamaica), hosted another successful
Boys’ and Girls’ Championships staged at the National
Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
The four day championships which commenced on Wednesday 28,
March saw the very best of secondary school students in Jamaica
converging at the National Stadium in what is dubbed the best
high school track and field championships in the world.

Easter
karate outcome
Participating
in Trinidad and Tobago in a martial arts tournament over the
Easter Weekend were a contingent of karate-kas from the White
Tiger Kenpo School headed by Benny Chitolie.
Though not as successful as the first two years of participation,
they team members were able to achieve notable results.

Rhashid Chitolie – 1st place out of competitors in his
division from the U.S.A., Venezuela,
Gold
medal drought ended
Former
President of the Saint Lucia Athletic Association now responsible
for Regional and International Affairs for Track and Field,
Alfred Emmanuel met with the Saint Lucia CARIFTA Track and
Field team and officials to extend Congratulations on behalf
of the local A.A on their excellent and courageous performance.
The meeting held at the St. Lucia Olympic House on Thursday
12th May 2007, included most of the team with the exception
of silver medallist Sandisha Isidore, and Merica Moncherry
the new National Junior Female 400-metre record holder.
