Greater tax burdens for Britons

In a recent analysis, the United Kingdom was highlighted as one of the heftiest taxed countries in the world and with the latest concerns and decisions by the hierarchy in respect to global warming, Brits are now expected to receive another clobbering of additional taxes.
The British Labour Party which are now completing their third term in office are hoping to secure a fourth term under the Leadership of Gordon Brown, but the Brits have undoubtedly had their fill with the Labour Party and runaway taxes, therefore, the chances of the Conservative Party under the leadership of David Cameron being victorious are relatively secure.

Freedom of Choice

I do believe that having recently celebrated Independence, we are still a democratic sovereign State, supposedly making our own decisions for the betterment of all St Lucians, and not a benefited few. Well, I wonder what would have happened when we asked for our Independence from England in 1979? Could we have found ourselves in the same position as Taiwan is with the PRC today? I think not – because the difference between the two (England and China) lies in one word: DEMOCRACY.

Your Turn to Chop

Many of us cannot understand why it is taking this government so long to get rid of (at least by transfer!) people who are known to be hostile to them and their party. Just recall the manner in which the St Lucia Labour Party assumed government, all ready and willing with their list in their hand, so to speak, waiting to chop here and chop there. Now that does not mean that I want the UWP to copy Labour and indulge in dirty tricks like they did. I am simply saying that it cannot make good sense to keep people who are (or were in the run-up to elections) against the UWP. How can they further the cause of this government? Would they not, in fact, seek to undermine and sabotage their operations for the benefit of the country, so that they do not look good. ...
