Greater
tax burdens for Britons
In
a recent analysis, the United Kingdom was highlighted as one
of the heftiest taxed countries in the world and with the
latest concerns and decisions by the hierarchy in respect
to global warming, Brits are now expected to receive another
clobbering of additional taxes.
The British Labour Party which are now completing their third
term in office are hoping to secure a fourth term under the
Leadership of Gordon Brown, but the Brits have undoubtedly
had their fill with the Labour Party and runaway taxes, therefore,
the chances of the Conservative Party under the leadership
of David Cameron being victorious are relatively secure.

Freedom
of Choice
I do believe
that having recently celebrated Independence, we are still
a democratic sovereign State, supposedly making our own decisions
for the betterment of all St Lucians, and not a benefited
few. Well, I wonder what would have happened when we asked
for our Independence from England in 1979? Could we have found
ourselves in the same position as Taiwan is with the PRC today?
I think not – because the difference between the two
(England and China) lies in one word: DEMOCRACY.
Your
Turn to Chop
Many of us cannot
understand why it is taking this government so long to get
rid of (at least by transfer!) people who are known to be
hostile to them and their party. Just recall the manner in
which the St Lucia Labour Party assumed government, all ready
and willing with their list in their hand, so to speak, waiting
to chop here and chop there. Now that does not mean that I
want the UWP to copy Labour and indulge in dirty tricks like
they did. I am simply saying that it cannot make good sense
to keep people who are (or were in the run-up to elections)
against the UWP. How can they further the cause of this government?
Would they not, in fact, seek to undermine and sabotage their
operations for the benefit of the country, so that they do
not look good. ... |
