He
ain’t giving up
During
the 2007 Thinking Sports Symposium which was held in Trinidad
and Tobago, former Trinidad and Tobago cricket coach and West
Indies fast bowler Tony Gray, addressed the gathering of some
of the region’s top sports journalists.
During his address
he said, “I do not understand how an intelligent young
cricketer like Darren Sammy could be left out of the World
Cup squad, and Dwayne Smith is selected.”
Sammy was selected as one of the reserves of the West Indies
2007 ICC Cricket World Cup squad, but was not part of the
one-week preparation camp in Jamaica with the first squad
of fifteen players.

girls bring Beausejour alive
If
visitors to the Beausejour Cricket Ground were a little put
off as was pointed out to me by the absence of the partying
normally seen on television when One Day Internationals are
held at the ground, yesterday they were given a taste of what
it could be.
With Kenya reeling at 83 for four, it was becoming an exercise
in academics, and the crowd sensing such, became restless
and was looking for their own fun.

What
killed Bob Woolmer after loss?
Twenty-four
hours after being embarrassingly eliminated from the World
Cup on Saturday after losing by three wickets to minnows Ireland,
Pakistan’s coach Bob Woolmer was found unconscious in
his hotel room lying in a pool of vomit.
The 58-year-old former South Africa coach, who played for
England between 1975 - 1981, was discovered at his hotel in
Jamaica at 10:45 local time on Sunday March 18th, 2007.
England
handclapped to win
John
Davidson having won the toss inserted the English who quietly
went about laying the foundation for a huge total, with a
century stand between Captain Michael Vaughn (45), and Ed
Joyce (66).
However their cautious approach did not sit well with their
supporters who on many an occasion started the slow handclap,
especially with Kevin Peitersen sitting in the dressing room,
and chomping at the bit to go out and flay the bowling.
