4th Annual Woule Laba Cricket Competition bowled off at the
Dennery Playing Field on Sunday 31st August in the form of
a 25 ball per side Ball –O- Rama to herald the start
of the 2008 competition under the auspices of the Folk Research
Center and title Sponsor the St.Lucia Distillers.

Sets New National Record
It
was the penultimate weekend of summer with a number of children
returning from holidays when the 2008 Summer Splash Swim Meet
was hosted by the Rodney Heights Aquatic Center from Thursday
27th to Saturday 30th August 2008. By all measures
the meet was a tremendous success with the young swimmers
and masters all enjoying themselves,

Clery/ Gros Islet end with a Goalless Tie
Gros
Islet and La Clery played to 0-0 draw at the weekend in the
St.Lucia Football Association District Football Competition
played at the Marchand Grounds in a North Zone encounter in
the presence of an appreciative crowd, but amid poor outfield
conditions. The encounter really did not live up
to the expectation to the many football fans present,
Basketball
Association Now 21 Strong
St.
Lucia Basketball Association now has 21 newly qualified Basketball
coaches (Level 1), certified by the International Basketball
Federation (FIBA), the governing body for international competition
in basketball. At a closing ceremony the coaches
received their certificates which brought the 10 day coaching
exercise to a close,
Castries
Cricket Return to the MPP
Believe
it or not Cricket in the Central Castries Cricket League returned
to the once famous Mindoo Phillip Park on Sunday 31st August
2008 after the last two years in the doldrums. The
inaugural Piton Twenty20 competition commenced with Police
easily defeating Shamrock by 7 wickets, while New Park defeated
rivals Lancers by three wickets in a tense and gripping match.

Charlemagne
is SLNNA President for another Week
The
news from the Palm Haven Hotel at Rodney Bay is that Liota
Charlemagne remains as St.Lucia National Netball President
at least for another week. At the planned general
meeting that was slated for Saturday 30th August 2008 only
three clubs turned out for the all important meeting to elect
a new executive for the period 2008 - 2010.
