Sunday the 23rd March 2008, about 8:15pm, 17 year old, Shem
Cherry of Assou Canal, Corinth and 18 year old, Christian
Jean of the same address were walking home when an unknown
person in a jeep drove past them and shot at them.
Shem Cherry was shot in the abdomen and thigh and Christian
Jean was shot in the right leg.
At
last week’s meeting of the Caricom Heads of Government,
one of the leading topics of discussion was “Crime.”
Now these leaders have announced their intention to discuss,
at a special summit scheduled for April, a regional strategy
to combat “the rising tide of violent criminality.”
Governments in the region are expressing increased concern
about the escalating crime,
The
St. Lucia Banana Corporation (SLBC) is optimistic it will
not go out of business even though it has been warned it could
no longer sell its bananas to the Windward Islands Banana
Development and Exporting Company (WIBDECO) Limited come next
Tuesday. And the SLBC appears confident that its
attorneys will go ahead with its lawsuit against Bernard Cornibert,
