Thousands
are expected to converge at the George Odlum National Stadium
on Easter Monday 24th March 2008 as early as 7:00 am to secure
a seat and to have a proper view of every piece of the action
as over 450 Senior Athletes are expected to be present at
the 5th Annual National Senior Games. Monday’s
event is scheduled to commence at 9:00am,

Bucks for Senior Games 2008
The
National Senior Games scheduled for Easter Monday 24th March
2008 was given a much needed shot in the arm on Tuesday 18th
March when Consolidated Foods Limited, operators
of Super J Supermarkets presented its $12,000 sponsorship
cheque to Helpage Saint Lucia (the event organizers). The
Cheque was presented to Mrs. Helen Charles,

Fort Primary Crowned District 6 Champions
The
much anticipated friendly rivalry on the tracks between the
various Primary Schools in District 6 to determine who reigns
as champion was finally settled on Monday 17th March 2008.
The many athletes who for the past few days maintained
that zeal and enthusiasm going into the grand finale from
their respective school sports meets,

Cricket Seeks Support for Caribbean Tournament
On
Tuesday morning the Bank of Nova Scotia again took the lead
when it comes to community outreach especially for answering
the call made by individuals who are really in need of Kind
Financial support and this time around without hesitation
came to the assistance of the St. Lucia Blind Welfare Association
with a cheque of $5000.00,

St. Lucian Athletes at Carifta Games in St. Kitts
St.
Lucia’s team to the 2008, 37th edition of the Junior
Carifta Games which left the island on Thursday 20th March
2008 for St. Kitts will today Saturday 22nd March start their
medal hunt with the first event in Girls Pentathlon 100 metres
Hurdles in which Makeba Alcide student of Sir Arthur Lewis
Community College and Speed Printing Survivors Athlete will
do battle.

9th Invitational Swim Meet
After
four days of stiff competition at the 9th Rodney Heights Aquatic
Center Invitational Club Meet which commenced on Thursday
evening came to a successful end over the weekend with 3 National
Records and 12 Age Group records set. This year
Championships saw over 13 clubs from 5 Caribbean islands and
boasted over 235 swimmers registering. 
Digicel
presents “2008 OECS Junior Squash”
Seventeen-year
old Theo Jn Marie will be participating in his very first
OECS Junior Squash Tournament, a Digicel-sponsored event,
this March at the St Lucia Yacht Club. The young
player was turned on to the sport of squash through an after
school programme and bitten by the bug. He implored his parents
