row between the St. Lucia Banana Corporation (SLBC) and the
Windward Islands Banana Development and Exporting Company
Limited (WIBDECO), and in particular WIBDECO’s
chief executive officer, Bernard Cornibert, has now moved
beyond the boardroom and seems headed for a court of law.

St. Lucia National Fairtrade Organization (SLNFTO), the island’s
only banana organization certified under the Fairtrade Labeling
Organization of the United Kingdom to handle fruit from St.
Lucian farmers, has deplored the most recent move
by the St. Lucia Banana Corporation against the Windward Islands
Banana, Development and Exporting Company Limited,

Shane John is the father of two young boys, whom he said are
8 and 6 years old. He is a resident of Tabor Hill,
Anse La Raye who lives in the same vicinity of the mother
of his children. He told the following story which appeared

Plugged!
The
Government of St. Lucia Tuesday moved to stop a practice amongst
wholesalers that could have played a part in consumers paying
higher prices on controlled goods despite the spiraling costs
associated with almost all goods and services today.
Prime Minister Stephenson King Tuesday in the House of Assembly
introduced an amendment,

Union in the offing
Three
CRICOM countries, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad
and Grenada are apparently all ready to form a political union.
Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Patrick
Manning is reported to have disclosed that he is quite ready
to embrace political union with any country in the Caribbean
that is prepared to unite with his.
