GIVES AID
The
Japanese Grassroots Grant Project, a scheme which is reputed
to promptly respond to grassroots needs in developing countries
has rendered assistance to St Lucia for the upgrading and
construction of fish vending facilities in Castries with a

Strike
action could very well be coming to schools across the island.
But this time it will not be the usual teachers’ strike
but rather one by the men and women hired by the Ministry
of Education to protect the schools from vandalism and prevent
theft of schools’ property. These are the men and women
who do duty as security guards for schools across the island.

Domestic
Homicide
Thursday
morning the news of yet another homicide from the fires of
domestic violence spread rapidly across St. Lucia. A
23 year old mother of three, stabbed her 25 year old boy-friend,
and father of her children, in the neck with a knife at her
home in Ciceron. He ran from the house, blood from his neck
leaving a trail all the way to the main road where he collapsed
and bled to death.
Youth
Department ‘reengineering’
The
Department of Youth and Sports in St Lucia is pressing ahead
with its reengineering according to recently appointed Director,
Mrs. Fortuna Belrose. “We are taking a hard
look at where we are going and as a result sought to engage
CYPCC in determining the way forward,” she said. During

Some
of the top American record label executives have been invited
by BET J to appraise St Lucian artistes at their annual music
awards scheduled for February 29, 2008. Senior executives
from J Records, Atlantic Records and Hidden Beach Recordings
including other prominent celebrities are expected to be in

Police
say that a man whose charred body had been discovered in his
house that was completely ravaged by fire was murdered.
According to reports, John Biroo, of Marc, quarter of Castries
whom they thought might have burnt to death on Sunday 25,
2008 was actually shot before his demise. A post mortem examination
has revealed that the forty something year old man,

Union Robbed
The
Saltibus Credit Union yesterday morning was victim to a daring
and well planned robbery by a single individual who escaped
with an estimated $24, 000. The credit union is no
stranger to robberies however this one was conducted in a
fashion that was incredulous and showed that much planning
went into it. Reports are that the individual entered dressed
as woman,
